Because Fiebing's water-based dye uses water instead of harsh solvents, it behaves like a highly concentrated liquid stain — making it surprisingly versatile across other porous, unfinished surfaces:

• Raw wood — Acts as a vibrant wood stain that sinks deep into the grain. Ideal for tool handles, carvings, and small furniture. Tip: water-based dyes slightly raise the grain, so a light sand once dry will restore a smooth finish.
• Paper & cardboard — Works like ultra-strong watercolour or liquid ink. Great for aged-effect paper crafts, bookbinding, and mixed-media art. Dilute heavily with water to avoid warping.
